Introduction to Three Wide Media, LLC

Three Wide Media, (TWM), is the parent company of Dirt Late Model Magazine and Flat Out Magazine.  TWM, an LLC, is owned by Brian Lille, Mike O’Connor, Rick Hartzell, and his wife, Jill George-Hartzell.  TWM officially took over the publishing responsibilities for Dirt Late Model Magazine and Flat Out Magazine on January 1, 2007.

TWM’s immediate goal is to build on and enhance in every way appropriate, Dirt Late Model and Flat Out magazines.  Both magazines have a rich and storied tradition to go along with solid subscription and advertising bases.  That’s what made the purchase attractive from a business perspective.  What makes it fun is that the magazines cover a sport that each of the principals involved have direct involvement with and a genuine passion for.

Let’s meet the people behind TWM.

 
 
Rick Hartzell, CEO
Rick is a native Iowan who attended and graduated from The University of Northern Iowa. Rick has served as the Athletic Director at various universities including most recently his alma mater. Rick was college athlete and continues his involvement in athletics as a Division I college basketball referee. Rick's role with Three Wide Media is general day-to-day operations of all of our publications.  Rick is married to Jill and has three children, Nate (28), Amanda (27), and Jackson (1).
 
 
Brian Lillie, COO
Brian grew up in Ottawa, KS and initially attended the University of Kansas. Following Brian's sophomore year at KU he transferred to the University of Northern Iowa. Now an advertising executive, Brian is the CEO of eCreative Group, an advertising agency he founded and runs from its offices in Independence, IA. In the summer of ’06 Brian started a Dirt Late Model racing career that was documented in the pages of Dirt Late Model Magazine – “Ride of a Lifetime, Brian Lillie’s Rookie Season.”  Brian also sponsors other local and regional race teams via a division of his company – eCreative Motorsports Marketing.  Brian is married to Tracy and they have two children, Brittany (10) and Brayden (4).  The Lillie’s make their home in Independence, IA.
 
 
Mike O'Connor, President
Mike is a native Iowan and attended The University of Northern Iowa where he earned a degree in marketing. Mike’s business career has been spent in sales and sales management. His career led to stops in various cities around the country, but he always found his way to the local dirt track and has been a freelance journalist for various publications including Dirt Late Model Magazine for several years. Since moving back to Iowa in 2003, he’s taken advantage and done his part to thin the bountiful Iowa pheasant flock in addition to being involved in the local racing scene. Mike has one daughter, Emma and is married to Julie. The O’Connor’s make there home in Cedar Falls, IA.
